Let The Children RIDE
You should be aware and care about this - even if you have no interest in the sport.
ATV and off-road motorcycle riding for children under the age of 12 yrs may soon be history, if H.R. 1587 does not pass. It's a freedom that many children that I know enjoy daily and most adults I know have fond memories of enjoying. It is a activity that shaped them - skills that could not be learned behind a desk. An activity that kept most youngsters out of trouble. Through riding they learned about responsibility, safety, knowing their limits, confidence, competition, good sportsmanship and respect to name a few.
Many that grew up in the sport now are successful business people that still contribute to the sport and don't want to see it die.
Make no mistake it will surely die as the saying goes "The Children Are Our Future" well the future of off-road motorsports is the youth and will no doubt be doomed if you take the children out of the picture.
About the law: In 2008 President Bush signed into law the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Although it may have been formed out of good intentions it is one of those laws that doesn't get researched enough and good common sense seems to get lost somewhere in the wind. What was supposed to protect children from lead in toys imported from China seems to have gone too far. Some of you may say... "It's a good thing, kids should not ride those things anyway - they are dangerous"!
I say to you this:
Science is not settled in the matter of Global Warming. So, how can we pass policy that is based on theory rather than facts?
On November 17, 2009 scientists at the Climatic Research Unit from the University of East Anglia, had over 1000 emails hacked into. These emails consisted of correspondence between Scientists and Researchers wanting to change climate information to justify their own theory on Climate Change. Here are a couple excerpts from a couple of the emails;
"I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie, from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline."
"The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't,"
Here is a fact;
These un-truths affect not only your pocket but also something you hold more near and dear... your children.
Your children may have been taught such things like; CO2 is a pollutant and that Man is causing Global Warming.
It is one thing to have discussions about the subject of Climate Change, however it is completely off balance to teach that the science is settled and that it is fact.
Our world needs well-rounded individuals with common sense not drones who simple follow the popular path and question no one.
